Kezia Age's creation, The Conequeror, is not just a lamp but a statement piece that pays homage to the Mbaru Niang—traditional conical houses of Indonesia. This design marvel stands out with its parametric approach, symbolizing a bridge between the old and the new. The lamp's conical shape is a nod to the natural materials and construction techniques of the past, reinterpreted through the precision of modern 3D printing technology.
The Conequeror's unique properties lie in its minimalist design, which incorporates advanced LED technology to offer an interactive lighting experience. With the ability to project three different patterns and transform into 13 colors, this lamp does more than illuminate; it creates an ambiance. Its portability ensures that this protective atmosphere can be transported to any space, inviting tranquility into the user's environment.
Realized through the innovative use of 3D printing and resin, The Conequeror is a testament to the possibilities of LED light technology. The technical specifications reveal a compact design, with dimensions that make it a versatile addition to any interior or exterior setting. The lamp's interaction with its user is intuitive, allowing for customization of color and pattern through a remote control or a smartphone application, enhancing the user's mood and the surrounding space.
The design journey of The Conequeror began in June 2023 in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, and culminated in September of the same year. Its debut at the University of Hertfordshire in October 2023 marked the culmination of intensive research and development. Kezia Age's research delved into the negative perceptions of primitive cultures, aiming to transform these through design that integrates traditional art forms with a contemporary, technology-driven product.
One of the significant challenges faced in the creation of The Conequeror was the application of a parametric design approach. This required a high level of precision and a series of mock-ups to achieve the desired interplay of light and shadow. The result is a transformative design that not only reflects three intricate patterns of primitive nature but also offers a spectrum of colors that bring these patterns to life against any backdrop.
Kezia Age's dedication to redefining primitive aesthetics through modern design has been recognized with the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in the 3D Printed Forms and Products Design category for 2024. This accolade is a testament to The Conequeror's innovative integration of form, function, and technology, marking it as a well-designed, practical, and innovative creation that meets professional and industrial standards. Kezia Age holds the copyrights to this masterpiece, ensuring that the intellectual property rights are preserved for this unique blend of tradition and technology.
